Table 1 Inclusion criteria of the study protocol

Subjects may be of either sex and must be at least 18 years old

Subjects must have indication of primary percutaneous coronary angioplasty (PCA):

-Angina or equivalent at least 120 minutes in duration

- Electrocardiogram with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction that concerns

more than two contiguous leads (>2 mm)

Presentation within 12 hours of symptoms onset

First myocardial infarction

Primary PCA must show a pre-PCA TIMI flow of 0

Subject must be able and willing to sign informed consent
