Study flow chart. Ischaemic stroke patients admitted within 24 h of symptom onset undergo respiratory polygraphy on night 1. Patients with AHI > 20/h are randomized to ASV versus no ASV treatment. Patients with AHI < 5/h are followed in parallel. New cerebro-cardiovascular events or death are assessed after 1 year by telephone interview.
