Surgical complications: major bleeding, severe adhesions, large tumours, unexpected long operation time

Severe hypoxaemia, pO2 < 60mmHg

Severe hypercapnia, pCO2 > 80mmHg

Circumstances hindering the surgeon from preparation: persistent coughing, extensive diaphragmatic movements, insufficient collapse of the lung
