Statistical analysis with intention-to-treat principle. All recruited ELAIN patients randomly allocated to the early or late group will be considered for intention-to-treat. Patients with protocol violation will be included in the analysis to gain a representative result of the daily practice. Protocol violation is defined as: subjects in the early group who did not receive RRT in the early phase of AKI (KDIGO stage 2); and subjects in the late group who did not receive RRT, although KDIGO stage 3 was achieved and patients were lost to follow-up
